COVID 19 has forced us to stay indoors, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t socialize. Make your next livestream or zoom happy hour event a fundraiser to help Detroiters in need.
Rent Parties are more important now than ever.
The current public health emergency has amplified persistent inequities in our society. Following the emergency declaration, Governor Whitmer issued an executive order prohibiting eviction. The ability to shelter-in-place is crucial to flattening the curb and preventing unnecessary deaths.
Artists and musicians are moving their events online through live-streaming platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook. Please consider making your next online event a Rent Party by asking for donations or tips to be contributed to the Rent Party Detroit fund.
As a performer or organizer, all you have to do is provide your participants with our donation link (rentpartydetroit.org/donate/) and encourage them to donate. Alternatively, you could ask people to donate to you directly and you could then donate the proceeds or a percentage thereof to Rent Party Detroit. Please contact us for more information. If you make your party a Rent Party, we will put it on our events calendar and help you promote it through our networks.
All donations are tax exempt through our fiscal sponsor Allied Media Project and all proceeds go directly to people facing the imminent threat of eviction or to relocate people in housing with hazardous conditions.
